»Steinreich« –
an inclusive exhibition in the »Fränkische Freilandmuseum«

Stein ist eine dankbare Sache, wenn es um taktile Aspekte geht: Er ist hart und stabil, d. h. er kann Tausenden von Händen standhalten, fühlt sich interessant an und ist in Bezug auf die Gesteinsarten erstaunlich komplex und vielfältig. Es war also klar, dass die (Dauer-) Ausstellung über Stein eine umfassende, taktile Ausstellung sein sollte. Realisiert wurde sie in der niedrigen Scheune und der Tenne daneben, wo es auch ein raumhohes "Lapidarium" mit Werkstücken gibt - und Platz für Vorführungen und Mitmachangebote. Das alles in einem schönen Steinhaus.
Vom Eingang aus leitet ein Geländer die Besucher - diese physische, greifbare "Leitlinie" führt die Hände der Interessierten zu Tafeln, taktilen Infografiken, rauf und runter zu Werkstücken und Werkzeugen ... die wiederum Knöpfe für Audiosequenzen haben, bei denen man hört, wie die jeweilige Bearbeitung klingt. Man kann sehen und fühlen, wie sich verschiedene Gesteinsarten anfühlen, in welchen Arbeitsschritten eine Spirale entsteht ... Gleichzeitig gibt es eine Broschüre mit allen Texten in "Leichter Sprache" und auch einen Audioguide, zu dem die entsprechenden Links in der Ausstellung sind.
Barrierefrei und inklusiv, rollstuhlgerecht und taktil, Video- und Audioeinbindung, taktil und ästhetisch anspruchsvoll mit interessanten, unerwarteten Aspekten wird das Thema "Naturstein im ländlichen Franken" präsentiert. Für alle - mit und ohne Handicap, für Groß und Klein, Amateure und Experten. Das ist auch der Unterschied zwischen "nur" barrierefrei und inklusiv.

Stone is a thankful thing when it comes to tactile aspects: it's hard and stable, meaning it can withstand thousands of hands, feels interesting to the touch, and is surprisingly complex and diverse in terms of rock types. So it was clear that the stone (permanent) exhibition should be an inclusive, tactile one. It was realized in the low barn and the threshing floor next to it, where there is also a room-high "lapidarium" with workpieces - and space for demonstrations and hands-on offers. All this in a beautiful stone house.
From the entrance, a railing guides visitors - this physical, tangible "guideline" brings the hands of those interested to panels, tactile infographics, up and down to workpieces and tools ... which in turn have buttons for audio sequences, where you hear how the respective processing sounds. You can see and feel how different types of rock feel, in which work steps a volute is created ... At the same time there is a brochure with all the texts in "easy language" and also an audio guide, to which the respective links are in the exhibition.
Barrier-free and inclusive, wheelchair accessible and tactile, video and audio integration, tactile and aesthetically sophisticated with interesting, unexpected aspects, the topic "Natural stone in rural Franconia" is presented. For everyone - with and without handicaps, for big and small, amateurs and experts. That is also the difference between "only" barrier-free and inclusive.
